Mrs. Ivy GamaMrs. Ivy Gama - Directress

I am a graduate from the University of Goa, India, with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and history. I began tutoring, when I was in High School, and it was then that I realized I have a passion for teaching and pursued on with my career. I further obtained a bachelor’s degree of Education in History and Geography. I began my teaching career and have 13 years of teaching experience at the Elementary Level. I enjoyed this experience as I was able to cater to the full development of the children.

Upon coming to Canada 11 years ago, I had the opportunity to observe children at work in a Montessori school and I was impressed on seeing them work independently at the age of two and a half. This drew me to the Montessori way of teaching. I completed my Montessori Training in the year 2014, at TMI, and earned the diploma to teach children from the age of two and half to six years.

I look forward to continuing my fruitful teaching journey at Northstar Montessori, a well reputed organization, and being able to be a role model to the children who are under my care.

Mrs. Lauren PitreMrs. Lauren Pitre - Directress

I graduated from the Early Childhood Education program at Sheridan College in 2004. I am a member of the College of Early Childhood Educators.

Throughout my career, I have gained experience in many different settings and organizations, such as providing personal support for individuals with Autism, acting as the Youth Center Supervisor for a Military Family Resource Center, as well as being the Assistant Supervisor at a privately-owned daycare facility. I work in the education field because I enjoy spending time with children and I am passionate about helping them reach their full potential.

Working at Northstar for the past 10 years has been a memorable and amazing experience. In the classroom environment, I have the opportunity to be a positive role model for my students, to help guide them through their struggles, and to share with them their successes. Bearing witness to a child developing a new skill is incredibly rewarding and continues to be the driving force behind my efforts and career.

    What Other People Said...

"My daughter has been at Northstar since she was 2 years old and started in the Toddler Program. She is now in the final year of the Casa Program and my son has taken her place in the Toddler Room. I can’t say enough about how Northstar has gone above and beyond to ensure their success. The school takes an individual approach to each student, recognizing that each child learns in their own way and at their own pace. My daughter has excelled in this non competitive environment and is outperforming her circle of peers who are older than her in the public system. She has a love for learning and truly enjoys working with the Montessori materials. The Casa Program does a great job of ensuring that the students really understand what they are learning. The Toddler and Pre Casa Programs are both nurturing and educational and truly set the stage for learning at the higher levels. My son at just a year and a half has shown great independence as well as the ability to follow direction and play well in a group setting. The school has done a great job of balancing both the social and academic needs of the child which in my opinion is key to their success." - Shelley
