Upper Elementary 1
Mrs. Nirvair Gill - Directress
I am a dedicated Montessori educator who embraces the principles of Montessori’s educational philosophy. I have done a master’s in science before getting into the field of Montessori. I learned about Montessori philosophy 14 years ago, when I was pursuing my early childhood education. I spent a few years working in Casa, and I realized I have passion for teaching at the elementary level. This inspired me to obtain my training in both Lower and Upper elementary levels from Montessori Teacher’s College. I am blessed with two children, a boy and a girl, who have been going to a Montessori School from the beginning.
I believe in empowering my students to explore, discover, and develop at their own pace with a deep commitment to fostering, independence and a love for learning. I create a supportive environment where each child can thrive and reach their full potential.
I am very happy to join the amazing teachers and staff at Northstar, and I am looking forward to knowing everyone!
Upper Elementary 2
Mrs. Balvinder Delill - Directress
I graduated from York University. I also obtained my Montessori Diploma from Toronto Montessori Institute. I knew early on as a child that I wanted to become a teacher as I found myself year after year admiring my teachers for their constant dedication, strength, and eagerness to help students in the class. I realized from a very young age that a career in teaching was one of great responsibility to our future. I constantly work toward motivating students to their highest potential and creating an environment where students are safe while being given the tools, socially and academically to find success throughout their education. I engage students to become life-long learners as my teachers have made me. I enjoy working at Northstar as I am surrounded by optimistic and supportive staff members. The teamwork between the teachers has helped me overcome challenges and empower me to become a wonderful motivator to my students. My students at Northstar have continued to give me inspiration and motivation everyday within the classroom. Most of all, I enjoy teaching students and the greatest reward comes when their faces light up with joy when they have accomplished their goal.
Upper Elementary 3
Mrs. Rizwana Khan - Directress
I am a dedicated Montessori educator who wholeheartedly embraces the principles of Dr. Maria Montessori’s philosophy. My teaching journey began in Dubai with traditional education after completing my master’s in education and literature. However, since stepping into the Montessori field in 2017, I have never looked back. I completed my Casa training and, driven by a passion for working with older children, pursued additional training in both Lower and Upper Elementary levels.
Teaching continues to inspire me every day. My students are my greatest source of motivation, and I find true joy in witnessing their excitement when they achieve their goals. I believe in empowering children to explore, discover, and learn at their own pace, while fostering independence and a lifelong love of learning. My goal is always to create a supportive environment where every child can thrive and reach their fullest potential.
I am delighted to be part of the amazing team of teachers and staff at Northstar. During the 2023–2024 session, I had the privilege of completing my Upper Elementary placement here while also supporting the Elementary program. It was a rewarding experience, and I feel fortunate to once again be part of the Northstar community. Becoming a certified Montessori Upper Elementary teacher is a meaningful step in my career, and I look forward to continuing to learn and grow alongside the children.
Junior High
Mrs. Crystal Roodzant - Directress
I hold an Honours B.A. of Art (Social Psychology with a focus on child developmental psychology) from McMaster University and a Bachelor of Education from Redeemer University, along with additional training in Special Education from Queen’s University. I have had the privilege of teaching in both Six Nations schools and Catholic schools, experiences that have deepened my belief that students learn best when they are encouraged to explore, ask questions, and discover their own strengths. At Northstar Montessori, I am committed to supporting each child’s natural curiosity and independence through hands-on, inquiry-based learning. My goal is to create a supportive environment where every student feels valued, confident, and inspired to grow.
