Mrs. Eveli Korre

I attended Tallinn Pedagogical Seminar, Estonia (Professional Higher Education) R.C.M. (Toronto) Kodaly Certified Teacher R.C.M. (Toronto) - Orff Certified Teacher. I started working for Northstar Montessori in 2003. I do not have children of my own at this time but I am blessed with my nephews and nieces and wonderful students. I enjoy the creative process of music making. Children have a natural aptitude for the sound and movement which is found in music. The exchange of energy is powerful and meaningful. I am inspired by my mother's example as a respected music teacher in Estonia. It is a positive learning environment.

French

Mme. Yamina Aoumer

I graduated from University of Algiers and from College des Grands Lacs, Ontario. I started working at Northstar in 2003 as one of the French teachers working with students in the Casa and Elementary level. I have five children of my own who are in university, high school and middle school. I was a midwife for many years before I started to teach French. I have always worked with children and I enjoy teaching all of the age groups. When I moved to Mississauga, I was searching for an environment that met my needs. I preferred the private school setting such as Northstar Montessori. After many interviews, I chose Northstar Montessori because it is an ideal setting and I have the privilege to teach French in small groups, just like in immersion schools and using the same advanced program. Northstar has made me feel very comfortable and I enjoy the supportive administration and the staff.

Mme. Schahrazede Aomraoui

I was born in Algeria, where I completed my Master’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Algiers. I am married and have a boy who is 2 years and 8 months old.

I have always loved working with children because it is one of the noblest, most honorable and useful tasks, and such a rewarding profession. My father is a very dedicated and respected English teacher in Algeria, he even taught French in a London (England) secondary school. He is my positive role model since I was a child and I have always wanted to follow his steps to succeed in my teaching career.

Before joining Northstar Montessori School, I worked in a private school in Algeria, where I taught French for children of different age groups, and in which I was the head of the French department for many years.

When I came to Canada, I continued teaching French in two Private schools where I taught students of various levels. I am really interested in Maria’s Philosophy; especially because it’s an excellent method for teaching French as a second language and it also gives me the advantage to teach in small groups and this enables any teacher to get better results.

I chose to be a teacher at Northstar Montessori School because it’s an incredible school where children are loved, cared for and able to get a very high level training in order to reach and achieve their goals. I am looking forward to spending a fantastic year!

Mme. Maude Chalifour

I was born in Quebec City and did quite a lot of traveling as a young child. My family and I spent a few years in Europe before coming to Toronto thirteen years ago. I am now happily married and the mother of a wonderful sixteen months old boy. I have completed a B.A. in French Studies at York University, Glendon Campus.

I truly feel blessed to have been chosen to teach French here at Northstar Montessori. My interest in Montessori schools started ever since I found out more about them by working in a summer camp. When it comes to working with children, it has always been a part of my life. I am very excited to begin this new school year here. The diverse staff has made me feel very welcome. Merci!

Elementary Art and Computers

Mr. Scott Cummings

From the time I was six, I have always loved art (thank you He-Man cartoons). However, my development was slow; much to do with minimal self-motivation. Others encouraged me, but nothing stuck. After high school, I attended the University of California Santa Cruz where I studied fine art. Although I received a Bachelors degree, I still felt lost about the direction or even my ability to create. Then an opportunity presented itself in 2003 as an art teacher in Los Angeles. Even though this first experience was a challenge, it, along with other teaching opportunities helped fuel my artistic passion all the while educating me in the art of teaching; flexibility and experimentation.

In 2006, I moved up here to Canada with my wife and our two children. Since my arrival here to Mississauga, I have been tutoring part time and looking after our kids. While being at home was fulfilling and I was given the time to paint, I missed being in the classroom. Now, once again, I have been provided a unique opportunity here at Northstar Montessori where I will join the students to wonder, discover and have fun in both art and computers; with a touch of California energy.

Elementary Physical Education

Mrs. Mima Mervart

I graduated from the University of Charles in Prague with a Master Degree in Physical Education. I taught physical education at the elementary level for four years in Prague and then later in Toronto, at The Giles School. I was raised in a very athletic family, my father was a basketball coach and my mother was a great tennis player. They inspired me for the rest of my life. I was first introduced to table tennis at age of five, and when I turned eight I switched to track and field. I obtained 1st place in Slovak Championship (100m Hurdles), 2nd place in Slovak Championship (Heptathlon), and 1st place in Czechoslovak Championship (High Jump). Whatever the circumstances, I always strive to achieve daily goals, to plan activities that enhance the students' academic curriculum, and to instill a love for physical fitness and accomplishment. In today's age of "video" kids who lack opportunity for fitness and are becoming ever more sedentary, I impart a real understanding of the role of athletics and physical fitness in the world in which they live.

Casa Physical Education

Mr. Rick Ramirez

I graduated from Ryerson University in Graphic Communications Management, comprised of Business and Advertising in the Marketing Media. I like to stay active because I enjoy all kinds of sports. I try to give 100% of my effort and I hope to inspire students to do the same no matter what skill level they are. I was also very involved in coaching team sports and participated in many extra-curricular activities that revolved around sports (squash, badminton, karate, wrestling, basketball and volleyball). I joined Northstar in February 2004 as the Physical Education and Art teacher. I enjoyed the years teaching both the Casa and Elementary students, but this year, my days will be spent more in the operations of the business and teach gym in the Casa program. I will also aid and assist in the elementary computer program and junior high micro-economics program.
