Miss Nhi Ly - Directress

I knew I wanted to work with children from the moment I stepped into one of my younger siblings' classroom as a volunteer. Teaching was an option but I also thought about child psychology or social work. Throughout high school and university, I continued to volunteer in classrooms and at church. I also tutored ESL and managed a tutoring centre for a couple of years. After graduating from York University, I decided that all the experiences I gained, I wanted to pursue teaching. I attempted to go down the public school road but by chance, I discovered the Montessori Program at Sheridan College. As I learned more about the program, I was intrigued by this unique approach to education. I did my practicum here at Northstar Montessori and graduated from the program in 2007. I am glad to have studied the program as I have learned a greater amount of knowledge in educating children. I hope to contribute in creating a peaceful community for everyone by aiding today's young children to become tomorrow's problem solvers. I am glad to be back at Northstar and look forward to many memorable moments.

Miss Paula Prete - Directress

I have been with Northstar Montessori since 2002. I started out as a volunteer and knew that I wanted to be part of this growing family. Since then I have watched many children grow and develop. After so many years in the classroom I have decided to go back to school and enrich myself. I have always loved working with children and that’s one of the big reasons why I wanted to become a teacher. It is satisfying knowing that as a teacher, we help to mold the children of the future. To me, it doesn't feel like a job but more of a privilege to be around young minds. The best part of this job is that every day is full of surprises, new challenges and pure fulfillment. Seeing the faces of the students when they complete a task brings pure joy to my heart. I have been with Northstar for 5 years and every year has been filled with memories that I will never forget. The staff, the school, the students, the parents, and the environment are all a big part of why I'm at Northstar. I feel very lucky to be able to work in such a great facility, it truly feels like home.

Ms. Andrea Anderson - Assistant

This is my first year at Northstar Montessori. I am currently completing my Early Childhood Education diploma program at Sheridan College. I have experience working with students of all ages and I have also worked in many different child care settings such as daycares, private schools and Montessori schools. My education background also includes completing my Educational Assistant diploma, Teaching English as a Second Language diploma and recently completed the Montessori Teacher Assistant diploma program at AMI Training Centre. I am a very dedicated and honest educator who loves working with a variety of different ages of students and believe that all children can learn. From this experience I would like to learn and gain more knowledge, skills and adding them to the experiences that I already have also to further my education. I am glad and thankful for having this opportunity to be a part of Northstar Montessori.
