I have my Masters in Sociology from the University Of Bombay, India and I have always wanted to be a teacher. I had the opportunity to do my Montessori Training at the Foundation for Montessori Education in Toronto in 2001 earning my Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) diploma. After that, it has been a completely joyous ride teaching Casa for the last 7 years. After completing my training, I taught in Texas for 2 years, and the last 4 years in Pennsylvania. And now, I am back in Canada imparting my knowledge and experience to the little flowers that are going to be in my classroom. Children have been my joy and passion since I was a little girl myself and I am totally privileged and grateful to be in their lives to guide, nurture, support them in their growth academically, socially, and emotionally. I am also humbled since I will be a part of their lives when their will and personality are being formed. I have a son who is in university and working part time. I look forward to being at Northstar Montessori School for a very long time, as I am truly in awe of the school, staff and administration. Everyone is very helpful and supportive. I also look forward to having a positive rapport with the parents and a great time with the children for years to come.
I graduated from St. Joseph’s College for Women (Karachi - Pakistan) in 1997. I attended Toronto Montessori Institute for my Montessori diploma in 2004. I started at Northstar Montessori as a Teacher in Sep 2004. I have a daughter and a son. My daughter is five years old and studies in Northstar Montessori. My son is 14 months old and stays home with his grandmother. Teaching is an essential profession, the one that makes all other professions possible. Without well-qualified, caring and committed teachers, nothing can ensure that our children are prepared for the challenges and opportunities they are going to see in future. I chose this profession because I believe by laying a strong foundation at their young age we can hope for a better future as Maria Montessori also believed that changes should start from a young age. I began my placement at Northstar Montessori in 2004 and since that time I have committed to Northstar because of all the support I have received from Administration and staff. I have also continued positive experiences with parents and students at Northstar. I was away traveling with my family for some time and when I returned to Canada other opportunities were presented to me but Northstar was always my first choice.
I have been with Northstar Montessori since 2002. I started off volunteering at the Toddler building in the summer of 2002 and knew that I wanted to work at Northstar. I graduated from Sheridan College, and also did my Teacher’s assistant program at Toronto Montessori Institute. My days at Northstar began in the Pre Casa classroom and I have been there ever since. I have always loved working with children and that’s one of the big reasons why I wanted to become a teacher. It is satisfying knowing that as a teacher, we help to mold the children of the future. To me, it doesn't feel like a job but more of a privilege to be around young minds. The best part of this job is that every day is full of surprises, new challenges and pure fulfillment. Seeing the faces of the students when they complete a task brings pure joy to my heart. I have been with Northstar for 5 years and every year has been filled with memories that I will never forget. The staff, the school, the students, the parents, and the environment are all a big part of why I'm at Northstar. I feel very lucky to be able to work in such a great facility, it truly feels like home. |
