I graduated from York University. I also obtained my Montessori Diploma from Toronto Montessori Institute. This is my 6th year teaching at Northstar Montessori School. I knew early on as a child that I wanted to become a teacher as I found myself year after year admiring my teachers for their constant dedication, strength, and eagerness to help students in the class. I realized from a very young age that a career in teaching was one of great responsibility to our future. I constantly work toward motivating students to their highest potential and creating an environment where students are safe while being given the tools, socially and academically to find success throughout their education. I engage students to become life-long learners as my teachers have made me. I enjoy working at Northstar as I am surrounded by optimistic and supportive staff members. The teamwork between the teachers has helped me overcome challenges and empower me to become a wonderful motivator to my students. My students at Northstar have continued to give me inspiration and motivation everyday within the classroom. Most of all, I enjoy teaching students and the greatest reward comes when their faces light up with joy when they have accomplished their goal.
After I received my Hon. B.A. from the University of Toronto, specializing in English with a minor in Sociology, I continued my post-secondary studies, earning my Elementary Teaching Diploma from the Toronto Montessori Institute in 2006. I had the opportunity to teach in an Upper Elementary classroom for two years prior to joining the Northstar staff. I have always enjoyed working with children, and have been involved in various children’s programs in a teaching or administrative capacity for more than seven years. It is a true joy to witness children grow as they discover and learn, and I strive to nurture their natural curiosity and enthusiasm. I believe in respecting each child’s individuality while guiding them to develop strong academic habits, self-awareness, and an empathetic sensibility to ensure that they will succeed and contribute positively to our world. My other passion is community involvement and at any given time I am participating in one or two community service projects. I hope to encourage my students to become altruistic human beings because I strongly believe that they are capable of becoming positive influences in society. I am thrilled to be a part of such a kind, nurturing community here at Northstar, and am looking forward to a fantastic year! (Currently on maternity leave.) |
