Ms. Pauline Halstead - Directress

In the words of Franklin D. Roosevelt, "Happiness lies in the joy of achievement and the thrill of creative effort." I hear Roosevelt's words embraced in Maria Montessori's philosophy of learning.

As a child, I did, I learned. As an adult, it was obvious for me to be a Montessori directress. It thrills me to observe the process of children discovering and knowing. With an environmental background, both as a child and academia, (University of Waterloo Bachelor Environmental Studies hons), I bring an environmental and global perspective to the classroom. I wish each child to understand his or her place and responsibilities in the natural environment.

In addition to my passion of igniting curiosity and the love of lifelong learning in children, I also embrace life on the water. As a kayaking instructor, founder and Executive Director of a non-profit kayaking organization, I work with a team to offer kayaking and canoeing to people with disabilities. These clients rarely get an opportunity to experience outdoor sport and activities. As a swimming instructor and lifeguard, I am also involved with swimming for people with disabilities.

As a Montessori Directress, I see my work as opening up the world of learning, of knowledge and understanding. It is an honour to be part of their journey of learning.

Mrs. Balvinder Delill - Directress

I graduated from York University. I also obtained my Montessori Diploma from Toronto Montessori Institute. This is my 6th year teaching at Northstar Montessori School. I knew early on as a child that I wanted to become a teacher as I found myself year after year admiring my teachers for their constant dedication, strength, and eagerness to help students in the class. I realized from a very young age that a career in teaching was one of great responsibility to our future. I constantly work toward motivating students to their highest potential and creating an environment where students are safe while being given the tools, socially and academically to find success throughout their education. I engage students to become life-long learners as my teachers have made me. I enjoy working at Northstar as I am surrounded by optimistic and supportive staff members. The teamwork between the teachers has helped me overcome challenges and empower me to become a wonderful motivator to my students. My students at Northstar have continued to give me inspiration and motivation everyday within the classroom. Most of all, I enjoy teaching students and the greatest reward comes when their faces light up with joy when they have accomplished their goal.
