Does Montessori Prepare the Students for the Real World?
I find that this question is almost always in the minds of parents whether they are considering a Montessori school for their child or currently has a child in a Montessori environment. Year after year, when parents consider whether to transition into the public school system when their child is eligible for grade one, they refer to it as they need to go into the real world. Northstar Montessori Private School Is Celebrating Their 15th Year!
September 26, 2011 WORLD WIDE WEB — You have to be doing something right for your business to not only stay active for 15 years, but to also be considered to be one of the premier in its field in the Mississauga, Ontario area. When it comes to the education of our children, the fact that this major milestone has just been reached is even more impressive. This is exactly why they are celebrating at Northstar Montessori Private School. With the current school year that just started, there are a lot of exciting things that are on the horizon. The start of the current school year brings the school’s fourth year in their new purpose-built facility. They are celebrating an achievement that few people would have believed was possible when the school started in 1996.
At the time that the school was founded by Mrs. Virginia Ramirez and her husband, the idea of Montessori education in Canada was relatively new. Few people believed that the school would be a success after the novelty of the first several years wore off. These proved to be inaccurate assumptions as the school and the Montessori Method that it uses started to immediately prove to the people of Mississauga that they were valid. Northstar Montessori Private School has prided itself in providing quality education for many years. Being a CCMA (The Canadian Council of Montessori Administrators) accredited member assures parents of this. Mrs. Virginia Ramirez firmly believes that parents who truly understand the Montessori philosophy will appreciate the benefits of a Montessori education, from toddler right through to Grade 8. It was this success that allowed the school’s program and student population to grow to a point where four years ago, they moved into a new 23,600 sq.ft. purpose-built facility located 5 minutes from the Square One Shopping Centre. “We love our new home, and it has so much more space than our previous building. We have needed the additional space for a long time”, Mr. Ramirez stated. Indeed, it has been the additional space that has allowed for the idea of expanding to include a Middle School program to take shape. “We could have never considered growing into the Junior High level in the old building”, Mr. Ramirez remarked.
Today, Northstar Montessori Private School is celebrating its 15th anniversary. Their goal is to have the most genuine and complete Montessori school in the Mississauga and surrounding area. The new building and the new programs may bring a lot of changes to Northstar Montessori Private School but one thing that will never change is the school commitment to providing the best possible Montessori education to its students. They do everything that they can to hold true to the principle established by Maria Montessori and her ground breaking research, the most important precept of which is that a child will succeed when you provide them with an environment that allows freedom of choice, promotes independence, accepts learning differences, and a safe atmosphere for children to make mistakes and learn from them. This is done by allowing them to find their own path guiding them and involving the parents in the process as much as is possible every day.
With their 15 year milestone, it is clear that not only does Canada approve of the idea of Montessori education, but that the community of Mississauga loves Northstar.
